Recently released data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reveals that, as of May 2024, there were just under 105,000 family medicine physicians employed in the United States. More than 16,000 of those employed as family medicine physicians lived in the five-state Mid-East region of the country. BLS data reveals a significant pay disparity among family medicine physicians in the Mid-East region. Practitioners in New York, the District of Columbia, and Delaware fell well below the national average for annual mean wages. In contrast, those in Maryland and New Jersey exceeded the national average, with Pennsylvania nearly cracking the top ten. An examination of May 2024 data from the BLS tells us the following about family medicine physician pay in the U.S. Mid-East region:
