Data released earlier this year from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that, as of May 2020, there were nearly 207,000 radiologic technicians and technologists employed in the United States. The Mid-East region of the U.S. held a bit more than 32,000 of those radiologic technologist and technician jobs. BLS data reveals the region to be a dichotomous one for radiologic tech pay. New York and the District of Columbia rank in the top 10 nationally for radiologic tech annual mean wages; and about two-thirds of radiologic techs in the region work in a state where the average annual mean wage exceeds the national average for radiologic techs. However, 30% of the region's radiologic techs are employed in Pennsylvania, where the annual mean wage runs almost 13% below the national average. A closer examination of May 2020 data from the BLS reveals the following about radiologic tech pay in Mid-East U.S. region:
