The latest occupational employment data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) put May 2023 employment numbers for medical transcriptionists at just over 52,000.  A review of BLS data reveals the Far Western U.S. to be one of the top pay regions in the nation for medical transcriptionists. Every state in the region recorded medical transcriptionist annual mean wage levels above the national average for the profession. Moreover, the region was home to two of the top 10 states in the nation for medical transcriptionist annual mean wages.  A closer look at BLS data from May 2023 tells us the following about medical transcriptionist pay in the U.S. Far West:
