EMT Pay in New England

Data made available earlier this summer by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) detailed that over 178,000 EMTs (emergency medical technicians) were employed in the United States as of May 2024. The six-state New England region accounted for a bit more than 9,800 of those EMT jobs. In general, New England is a good one for EMT pay.  Although EMTs inVermont earn average annual mean wages below the national average, 65% of the region's EMT live in Massachusetts or Connecticut, two states that ranked among the top 10 states nationally for EMT and paramedic annual mean wages. Data released in 2024 by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reports that, as of May 2024, there were over 248,600 physical therapists (PTs) working in the United States.  More than 60,500 physical therapists were employed in the twelve-state Southeastern U.S. as of May 2024.  BLS data reveals the Southeast region to be a mostly subpar one for PT pay, where practitioners often earn less than the national average annual mean wage for physical therapists.  Only three states in the region had an annual mean wage level for physical therapists that topped the profession's national average of $99,913, with more than half the states in the region ranking in the bottom half of all states for that pay metric.  A deeper examination of BLS data from May 2024

There were more than 1,388,000 nursing assistants employed in the United States as of May 2024 according to the latest occupational employment data available from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Approximately 214,470 of those employed as nursing assistants lived in the Mid-Eastern U.S., a region that includes five states and the District of Columbia.  BLS data reveals the region to be one of the better regions of the country for nursing assistant pay.  Every Mid-Eastern state, expect Delaware, registered a nursing assistant's annual mean wage level that was above the national average, and two states in the region ranked among the ten best states nationally for that pay metric.  A closer examination of BLS data from May 2024 provides the following details about nursing assistant pay in the Mid-Eastern U.S.:
