Medical Transcriptionist Pay in the U.S. Far West

The latest occupational employment data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) put May 2023 employment numbers for medical transcriptionists at just over 52,000.  A review of BLS data reveals the Far Western U.S. to be one of the top pay regions in the nation for medical transcriptionists. Every state in the region recorded medical transcriptionist annual mean wage levels above the national average for the profession. Surgical Technologist Pay in the Rocky Mountain Region

Data recently made public by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) shows more than 110,000 surgical technologists working in the United States as of May 2023. With just over 4,600 surgical technologists employed, the five-state Rocky Mountain region accounted for about 4% of surgical technologist employment in the United States.  Nearly half of the entire region's surgical technologists were in Colorado, which ranked in the upper quartile of states with an average surgical technologist annual mean wage in excess of $65,000, more than 10% higher than the national average. However, most other states in the region had surgical technologist annual mean wage levels below the national average. Pharmacy Technician Pay in the Great Lakes States

Pharmacy technician employment in the U.S. stood at over 460,000 per May 2023 data published earlier this year by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). With over 73,000 pharmacy technicians employed, the five-state Great Lakes region accounted for about 16% of U.S. pharmacy technician employment. BLS data indicated that the region is a weak one for pharmacy technician pay, as no state in the region recorded a pharmacy technician annual mean wage level that exceeded the national average. Medical Transcriptionist Pay in the Great Plains Region

The latest occupational employment numbers available from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics' (BLS) put medical transcriptionist employment at more than 52,000 as of May 2023.  At that time, an estimated 3,250 medical transcriptionists were working in the seven-state Great Plains region.  A review of BLS data revealed the Great Plains region to be a modestly good pay region for medical transcriptionists.  Nearly 40% of region's medical transcriptionists lived in one of the four Great Plains states where the annual mean wage level for the profession topped the national average.  This included Minnesota, which ranked first among the top five states in the nation for medical transcriptionist annual mean wages.  A deeper dive into BLS data from May 2023 reveals the following about medical transcriptionist pay in the Great Plains region:

Surgical Technologist Pay in the U.S. Southwest

The most current occupational employment data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) shows in excess of 110,000 surgical technologists working in the United States as of May 2023. With just over 14,000 surgical technologists employed, the four-state U.S. Southwest accounted for about 13% of surgical technologist employment in the United States.  The region was a generally weak one for surgical technologist pay, as three of four states in the region recorded annual mean wages levels for the profession that were below the national average. Pharmacy Technician Pay in the U.S. Mid-East

May 2023 data published earlier this year by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) put pharmacy technician employment at more than 460,000. With over 62,000 pharmacy technicians employed, the U.S. Mid-East region, which encompasses five states and the District of Columbia, accounted for about 14% of U.S. pharmacy technician employment. Medical Transcriptionist Pay in the Southeastern U.S.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics' (BLS) latest occupational employment estimates put the number of medical transcriptionist jobs in the United States at over 52,000 as of May 2024.  At that time, an estimated 12,010 medical transcriptionists were employed in the twelve-state Southeastern U.S. region.  BLS data reveals the Southeastern U.S. to be one of the weakest regions in the nation for medical transcriptionist pay, with more than three-fourths of the region's medical transcriptionists living in a state where the annual mean wage for the profession was below the national average.  Moreover, half the states in the Southeastern U.S. ranked among the bottom quartile of all states nationally for medical transcriptionist annual mean wage levels.  Further review of May 2024 BLS data details the following about medical transcriptionist pay in the Southeastern U.S.:

Surgical Technologist Pay in New England

Pharmacy Technician Pay in the Rocky Mountain Region

May 2023 data published earlier this year by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) shows more than 460,000 Americans being employed as pharmacy technicians. With almost 15,000 pharmacy technicians employed, the five-state Rocky Mountain region accounted for only 3% of U.S. pharmacy technician employment. Medical Transcriptionist Pay in the Great Lakes Region

The most current occupational employment figures available from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics' (BLS) estimated medical transcriptionist employment at over 52,400 as of May 2023.  At that time, 7,130 medical transcriptionists were estimated by the BLS to be working in the five-state Great Lakes region.  A review of BLS data revealed that, except for Wisconsin and Indiana, the Great Lakes region was a subpar pay region for medical transcriptionists. Nearly 80% of the region's surgical technologists lived in one of the other six states in the region, none of which registered an annual mean wage level for surgical technologists that exceeded the national average.
