The most current occupational employment data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) put the number of health service management jobs in the U.S. at over 402,500 as of May 2020. In May 2020, just over 50,700 were employed as health services managers in the four-state Southwestern U.S. BLS data shows the region to be, on the whole, a subpar one for health services management pay. Arizona and New Mexico both had health services manager annual mean wage levels that beat the national average. However, 80% of the region's health service management jobs were in Oklahoma and Texas. In Texas, the annual mean wage for health services managers was 6.7% below the national average, while in Oklahoma it was 19.9% below.
