The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) published data earlier this year indicating that, as of May 2020, there were over 176,000 healthcare social workers (HSWs) employed in the United States. More than 33,000 of those HSW jobs were in the Mid-Eastern U.S., a region that encompasses five states and the District of Columbia. BLS data revealed the Mid-Eastern U.S. to be a relatively good one for healthcare social worker pay, as about two-thirds of employed healthcare social workers in the region lived in states where the HSW annual mean wage level was above the national average. An examination of BLS data from May 2020 produced the following details about healthcare social worker pay in the Mid-Eastern U.S.
