Data made available earlier this summer by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) detailed that over 178,000 EMTs (emergency medical technicians) were employed in the United States as of May 2024. The six-state New England region accounted for a bit more than 9,800 of those EMT jobs. In general, New England is a good one for EMT pay. Although EMTs inVermont earn average annual mean wages below the national average, 65% of the region's EMT live in Massachusetts or Connecticut, two states that ranked among the top 10 states nationally for EMT and paramedic annual mean wages.
