According to data released earlier this year by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), as of May 2020 there were more than 34,700 chiropractors working in the United States. About 4,500 of those working chiropractors lived in the five-state Mid-East region of the country. For chiropractors, pay levels in the region were mixed. More than 15% of the regions chiropractors lived in New Jersey, which was a top five state nationally for chiropractor annual mean wages. However, about 44% of chiropractors in the region were in Maryland or Pennsylvania, two states where the average annual mean wages for chiropractors ran more than 4% below the national average.
