In the most recent (25-26) U.S. News & World Report review of American hospitals, 152 hospitals earned national recognition in one or more of the 15 adult specialties examined in the survey. Among that distinguished group were nine teaching hospitals in the five-state Great Lakes region that earned a top 50 national rating in five or more adult specialties. That number included four Great Lakes region hospitals (Cleveland Clinic, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Rush University Medical Center, and University of Michigan Hospitals) that made the survey's honor roll of the top twenty hospitals in the country.
