Clinical Lab Tech Average Pay in the Top 25 U.S. Metro Areas

There were 333,600 clinical lab techs (technologists and technicians) employed in the U.S. as of May 2022 according to data recently published by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).  Clinical lab techs work primarily in hospitals and medical diagnostic laboratories, with smaller numbers employed by physician offices, professional education institutions, and ambulatory health service providers. Clinical lab techs typically earn modestly better salaries than workers in most other occupations.  As of May 2022, the BLS estimated the national mean wage for clinical laboratory techs to be $59,130 per year.  The profession's median salary, which is the mid-point on the wage scale that divides the upper and lower half of earners, was $57,380 per year as of May 2022.
