Birth Rates in the Southeastern U.S.

In 2020, more than 3,613,600 births were recorded in the United States.  The twelve-state Southeastern U.S. region accounted for 932,706 births in 2020, or about 25.8% of all births in the U.S. that year.  With 10.90 births per 1,000 population, the Southeastern U.S. regional birth rate was close to par with the national average birth rate of 10.97 births per 1,000 population.  A closer examination of 2020 data from the National Center for Health Statistics, a unit of the CDC, provides the following state-level details about birth rates in the Southeastern U.S.:
