The latest occupational employment data released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) shows more than 415,000 Americans being employed as pharmacy technicians as of May 2020. With 53,300 pharmacy technicians employed, the four-state Southwest region accounted for just under 13% of U.S. pharmacy technician employment. Although Oklahoma rated as one of the ten worst states in the nation for pharmacy technician annual mean wages, the region as a whole was a modestly decent one for pharmacy technician pay. More than 86% region's pharmacy technicians lived in a state where the annual mean wage level was above the national average for the profession.
