U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data released earlier this year indicated that, as of May 2020, there were over 126,600 occupational therapists (OTs) at work in the United States. As that time, occupational therapist employment in the Far West U.S. totaled just over 15,100. BLS data reveals the Far West region to be one of the best in the nation in terms of OT pay. More than 80% of OTs working the region lived in a state where the OT annual mean wage level was above the national average. This included two states, Nevada and California, that ranked as the two best states in the nation for occupational therapist annual mean wages.
