Recently published May 2022 data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) put physician assistant (PA) employment at just over 140,900 nationally. Nearly 30,800 of those PA jobs were in the Mid-East region of the country, which encompasses the District of Columbia and five states. BLS data revealed a mixed tale about pay levels for physician assistants in the region as only two Mid-East U.S. states, New Jersey and New York, recorded mean annual wage levels for physician assistants that beat the national average.
