Recently published May 2020 data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that there were nearly 93,000 physical therapy (PT) assistants employed in the USA. Approximately 7,000 of those employed as physical therapy assistants lived in the seven-state Great Plains region of the country. BLS data shows the Great Plains to be the weakest region in the country for physical therapy assistant pay, with annual mean wage levels in all states in the region falling below the national average for PT assistants. In fact, three states in the region were in the bottom ten nationally for PT assistant annual mean wages. BLS data from May 2020 tells us the following about physical therapy assistant pay in the Great Plains region of the U.S.:
