Recently published data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) indicates that, as of May 2020, there were just over 98,000 family medicine physicians employed in the United States. Nearly 4,900 of those employed as family medicine physicians lived in the six-state New England region. BLS data reveals a wide pay disparity for New England family medicine physicians. Two states in the region rank in the top quintile nationally for family medicine physician annual mean wages, but two others in the region rank in the bottom quintile.
