Recently published data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) indicates that, as of May 2020, there were just over 125,000 physician assistants (PAs) employed in the U.S. Nearly 7,900 of those jobs were in the six-state New England region. BLS data reveals New England as one of the better paying regions of the country for physician assistants. The annual mean wage for PAs is above the national average in every state in the region. Moreover, four New England states were in the top quintile nationally for PA annual mean wages. BLS data from May 2020 reveals the following about physician assistant employment in New England:
