Recently published data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) indicates that, as of May 2022, there were just under 141,000 physician assistants (PAs) employed in the U.S. More than 8,500 of those jobs were in the six-state New England region. BLS data reveals New England as one of the better-paying regions of the country for physician assistants. The mean annual wage for PAs is above the national average in every state in the region. Moreover, the median annual wage, the wage level that divides the top and lower half of earners on the wage scale, is also above the national average in every state in the region.
