Clinical Lab Tech Pay in the Top 20 Metro Markets

There were approximately 318,800 clinical lab techs (technicians and technologists) employed in the U.S. as of May 2021 according to data published by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).  Clinical lab techs work mainly in hospitals and medical diagnostic laboratories, with smaller numbers being employed in physician offices, professional education institutions, and with ambulatory health service providers. Clinical lab techs typically earn slightly better salaries than workers in most other occupations.  As of May 2021, according to BLS estimates, the national mean wage for clinical laboratory techs was $56,910 per year.  Clinical lab tech pay varies widely from region to region.  BLS data from May 2021 reveals the following about clinical lab tech pay in the top 20 metro markets in the United States:
