Only 152 hospitals, out of more than 4,000 hospitals in the U.S., earned national recognition in at least one of the 15 adult specialties examined in the most recent (25-26) U.S. News & World Report review of U.S. hospitals. While several teaching hospitals in the seven-state Great Plains region earned national recognition in at least one adult specialty, only three teaching hospitals in the region earned a top 50 national ranking in five or more adult specialty areas. One of those hospitals, the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, also earned recognition in the survey's honor roll as being among the twenty very best hospitals in the country.
