There were almost 96,000 general dentists at work in the U.S. as of May 2020 according to recently published information by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Just over 14,000 general dentists were employed in the Mid-East section of the country, a region that spans five states and the District of Columbia. For general dentists, on the whole the region was a subpar one in terms of pay, as more than 80% of the region's dentists lived in states where the general dentist annual mean wage was below the national average.
