General Dentist Pay in the Rocky Mountain Region

There were nearly 96,000 general dentists employed in the U.S. as of May 2020 according to data recently published by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).  Just under 4,300 of those general dentist jobs were in the five-state Rocky Mountain region.  For general dentists, the region is a mixed bag in terms of pay relative to the national average.  The annual mean wage for general dentists in Idaho and Colorado is better than the national average, but elsewhere in the region general dentist pay lags the national average. In fact, two states in the region fall in the bottom quintile nationally for general dentist annual mean wages.  BLS data from May 2020 details the following about general dentist pay in the Rocky Mountain region:
