The 5 Best Children's Hospitals in the Mid-East Region

US News and World Report recently published its Children's Hospital Rankings for 2020-21.  These rankings were based on an evaluation of a hospital's performance in ten pediatric medical specialties: (1) cancer, (2) cardiology and heart surgery, (3) diabetes and endocrinology, (4) gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery, (5) nephrology, (6) neonatology, (7) neurology and neurosurgery, (8) orthopedics, (9) pulmonology, and (10) urology.  The methodology employed to develop these rankings is discussed in more detail here.  Based on this analysis, 88 hospitals across the country earned a top 50 national ranking in at least one pediatric medical specialty, including eighteen children's hospitals in the five-state Mid-East region.  From this group, four Mid-East region hospitals earned top 50 national rankings in all ten pediatric medicine specialties studied, and another earned distinction in nine of those ten specialties.  Moreover, three hospitals in the region were rated among the ten best children's hospitals in the nation.  No other region of the country had as many children's hospitals in the national top 10 rankings as did the five-state Mid-East region.  Here's a summary look at the 5 Best Children's Hospitals in the Mid-East Region and the specific pediatric medical care areas in which they excel:
