More than 800 hospitals were rated for their capabilities at delivering adult cardiology in the most recent (25-26) U.S. News & World Report (USNWR) rankings of American hospitals. This analysis graded subject hospitals on multiple metrics related to the outcomes experienced by their adult heart patients, the scale of their adult heart care programs, and the amount of professional recognition a hospital earned from the broader cardiology community. Among the top 50 ranked U.S. hospitals for adult heart care in the 25-26 survey, thirteen were based in the Mid-Eastern U.S., a region that includes five states and the District of Columbia. This included the two highest rated heart hospitals in the nation, three more hospitals that ranked among the top ten heart hospitals nationally and nine in total that ranked in the top twenty.
