Medicare Rehabilitation Hospital Beds in the Rocky Mountain Region

Rehabilitation hospitals are important elements of the hospital infrastructure that serves the needs of more than 62 million Americans with Medicare Part A insurance coverage.  In the calendar year 2020, there were 314 rehabilitation hospitals nationally, with 19,481 beds, that participated in the Medicare program.

As of 2020, the Rocky Mountain region was home to 11 rehabilitation hospitals, with 566 beds, that were participating in the Medicare program.  As such, the region held just 2.9% of the Medicare program's rehabilitation hospital bed capacity, while being home to about 3.3% of the nation's Medicare Part A enrollees.  A closer examination of the data reveals the following about Medicare rehabilitation hospital beds in the Rocky Mountain region:
