Medicare Rehabilitation Hospital Beds in the Rocky Mountain Region

Rehabilitation hospitals are important elements of the hospital infrastructure that serves the needs of more than 61 million Americans with Medicare Part A insurance coverage.  In calendar year 2019, there were 306 rehabilitation hospitals nationally, with 19,059 beds, that participated in the Medicare program.

As of 2019, the Rocky Mountain region was home to 11 rehabilitation hospitals, with about 566 beds, who were participating in the Medicare program.  Although the region was home to only 3.0% of the Medicare program's rehabilitation hospital beds, this level was generally in line with the region's 3.2% share of the nation's Medicare Part A enrollees.  A closer examination of the data reveals the following about Medicare rehabilitation hospital beds in the Rocky Mountain region:
