There were nearly 96,000 general dentists employed in the U.S. as of May 2020 according to recently released data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Just under 4,300 of these general dentists lived in the six-state New England region. For general dentists, the region is the best in the nation in terms of pay. The annual mean wage for general dentists in every New England state tops the national average, and five states in the region rank in the top ten nationally. BLS data from May 2020 reveals the following about general dentist pay in New England:
