Data published recently by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) put pharmacy technician (PT) employment in the United States at more than 415,000 as of May 2020. Nearly 31,000 pharmacy technicians were employed in the seven-state Great Plains region. BLS data revealed the region to be a mixed one for pharmacy technician pay. The positive was that the region was home to two states, Minnesota and North Dakota, that ranked among the ten best states in the nation for pharmacy technician annual mean wages. The negative was that over 70% of the region's employed PTs lived in a state where the annual mean wage for pharmacy technicians was below the national average.
