According to data published earlier this year by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), as of May 2022, there were more than 37,700 chiropractors employed in the United States. Nearly 6,300 of those employed as chiropractors lived in the five-state Great Lakes region. For chiropractors, pay levels in the region were mostly below average compared to the U.S. as a whole. The median annual wage, which is the wage level that divides the top and bottom half of wage earners, for chiropractors exceeded the national average in Indiana. However, in the other four states, which collectively accounted for 86% of the regions' employed chiropractors, the median annual wage fell below the national average. BLS data from May 2022 reveals the following details about chiropractor pay in the Great Lakes region:
