Data made available by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) earlier this summer revealed that more than 257,000 EMTs (emergency medical technicians) and paramedics were employed in the United States as of May 2020. The U.S. Mid-East region, which encompasses the District of Columbia and five states, accounted for over 47,000 of those EMT and paramedic jobs.
