Released earlier this year, May 2024 data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) indicated that over 174,000 speech-language pathologists (SLPs) were employed in the United States. More than 3,460 of them worked in the five-state Rocky Mountain region. However, BLS was unable to include Colorado’s 2024 data due to quality concerns, omitting what could account for up to 60% of the region’s workforce. As a result, the Rocky Mountain region ranked among the lowest-performing of all eight regions, with two of the remaining four states—Utah and Idaho—placing in the bottom ten nationally. A closer review of May 2024 BLS data reveals the following about speech language pathologist pay in the Rocky Mountain region:
