There were over 337,000 clinical laboratory technicians and technologists employed in the U.S. as of May 2024 according to data recently published by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Approximately 9,590 of those clinical lab tech positions were in the five-state Rocky Mountain region. For clinical lab techs, the Rocky Mountain region is a mixed bag in terms of pay relative to the national average. The annual mean wage for clinical lab techs in Montana and Wyoming is better than the national average, but elsewhere in the region annual mean wages lag the national average. In fact, two states in the region fell in the bottom quintile nationally for clinical lab tech annual mean wages.
